The purpose of this position is to supervise the City's solid waste collection, processing and hauling operations.
Essential job functions include supervising, directing, and evaluating assigned staff; coordinating daily work activities; ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; overseeing the daily solid waste collection, processing and hauling activities; maintaining inventories of supplies, forms and equipment; and communicating with supervisor, employees, other departments, the public, and other individuals as needed.
Additional functions include assisting in hurricane preparedness; assisting in clean up after natural disasters; and performing other related duties as required, requested, and assigned.
Minimum qualifications require a high school diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of related experience in operating heavy-duty vehicles/heavy equipment in the solid waste or other related industry; possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) with proper endorsements; and knowledge of solid waste collection operations, customer service principles, applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures, and physical demands.
